vs. Allentown 04/06/08

It was a beautiful day for rugby, cool & overcast day.  We were at home and had a nice crowd for the match which followed a Banshee home match with Valley Forge.

The first seemed to be a bit of a grind, we had several opportunities early on, that were closed out.  Several times we were one pass away from a score by a winger.  he Bulls finally got on the board with a nice ball out through the backs to center Alex Riccio scoring in the corner.  Jon Ungaro followed up a little bit later with a pick up from the base of a well formed ruck and scooted in for the try.  We finished up the half with a ball that started out to the backs but was mishandled.  Tyler Kanter smartly, kick the ball off a bounce and punched towards the goal line.  Dan Taylor chased the ball down and covered in goal for the converted try, Tyler made the kick.

The second half we had a better handle on our opponent and the ball, this time taking full advantage of our opportunities.  Brain McCall almost got in with a cut back on a slow ball from a ruck, getting pushed out 5 meters from the goal line.  Jon U made the most of this, by take another scoot and touching down for the first of many this half.  Marks Transue had the next score and than Anthony Tucci got in to the act with great support on third phase ball taking it in for the score.  Mark T got his second score of the day this time it was converted by Jon U.  Alex not wanting to be out done took another ball out through the backs in for a score.  Jon U finished of the day with the hat trick as the whistle blew.

PostScript:  This was one of our most productive days with nine trys having scored, but it was at a great cost.  We lost due to injury in the middle stages of the second half, our fourth year fullback Tyler Kanter.  It will impossible to replace him and his experience on the the field or as a team leader.  We all wish him well and a speedy recovery "we're with you".
